Mark Lancaster

Mark Lancaster, a British artist celebrated for his vivid paintings and stage design, was born in 1938 in Yorkshire. Initially involved in the textile industry during his early years, Lancaster shifted his focus to painting while studying at King’s College in Newcastle. In the late 1990s, he created a significant body of work as a tribute to Andy Warhol, whom he had assisted earlier in his career. This phase saw him produce over 200 canvases inspired by Warhol’s iconic portraits. Prior to this, Lancaster’s art predominantly featured grid patterns rendered in an array of vibrant colors.
